PAR FOR THE CVRSE: monotypes by Grady Gordon

smoke the moon is proudly presents Par For the Cvrse, an exhibition of monoprints by Santa Fe artist, Grady Gordon.

Monotypes are constitutionally singular objects - intrinsically a study in impermanence. Par For The Cvrse invites the viewer into an entirely new universe created by Gordon, replete with inhabitants and artifacts that traverse a liminal space between life and death. Grady creates his monoprints by working reductively–building imagery by removing ink from a plexiglas plate and then running it through the press.  Inspired by fantasy, the macabre and mythologies from around the world, Grady intricately articulates ghoulish figures and morbid scenes in black and white.

Gordon graduated from California College of the Arts in 2008 with a BFA in Illustration. His work takes inspiration in folklore, the occult, and the absurdity of existence.  He lives and works in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
